I think the thing that bothers me about gender-swap/cis-switch AU's is that.... The characters are usually written/drawn SO fundamentally different than before? As if changing a person's gender or sex will change their entire personality?
It bothers me a lot seeing a character who loves science, and technology, and discovery suddenly DROP everything they loved and enjoyed because "well they're a GIRL now so they're only going to be interested in FEMININE things and also BOYS and also WEAR things they'd NEVER LIKE" as if they couldn't ALSO EXPLORE THAT while they were any other gender! Or as if this new gender can't also do everything they originally liked!
It's weird!!! I don't like it!!! Don't do that!!!
