Itâs #ThrowBackThursday and I am throwing back to a fabulous fĂȘte in the late fall!!
The annual âScout is Outâ party is much to celebrate, and what better place than 21C Museum Hotel in Durham?! Â I mean, they are pros when it comes to hospitality and it was the perfect place to throw a party for the fourth volume of The Scout Guide, Raleigh | Durham | Chapel Hill! Â
21c was great to work with, from handling food + drink entirely, to meeting my request to have as many of the beloved fuchsia penguins as possible at the party-- the ultimate guest-- if you spill on them, they donât complain, easy to wipe, they stand tall, always friendly and on the move!
Chef Josh Munchel of Counting House made an elaborate and hearty spread. Guests enjoyed tasty bites throughout the night and my fave was they had two signature cocktails, the âScout Side,â a tasty play on the classic South Side and the âMrs. Avery,â a madeira punch.
The ballroom was grand and made for a great space for the Scout crowd. Â I love how the original bank details are still in tact, luxe paneled walls, green terrazzo floors, with just enough updates with lighting and drapes. Â Next time you are at 21C, be sure to look for other wonderful and throwback details of another era- jâadore!! Â And please donât tell me you âhavenât been there yetâ --you are missing out, so run donât walk!
Our friends at La Farm Bakery provided wonderful tarts, seasonally appropriate and, of course, they lived up to the accolades of Master Baker, Lionel Vatinet.  So very, very delish!
Pretty much nothing makes me happier than seeing fellow Scout members meeting one another and hitting it off grandly! Â I love connecting people and it is great to see how a beautiful publication like Scout does this! Â This is Jay from William Travis Jewelry with Lola of Exotique!
Hobnobbing ensues! Â Chatting with Caroline Jackson-Allen, of The Umstead, and also with LisaMarie Smith, of LM in Conversation.
Dynamic Office Servicesâ Caitlin McAllister
DJ El Bruque (from Ride Cycle Studio!) spun sick beats and there was a good crowd dancing the night away for much of the evening.
Mr. Avery cutting a rug with little Liza Valentine!
