Yes, we’ll go into the woods and explore, finding the beauty in mushrooms and salamanders and the songs we sing to each other. We’ll cook on a campfire, burning our marshmallows to a charred crisp. We’ll camp under the stars, waking up with our sleeping bags covered in dew. We’ll go home smelling of smoke and sunscreen and bug spray, wishing we could stay just a little longer.
But we’ll also learn and grow, working to not only better ourselves, but the world around us. The skills we develop, the causes we support, the mistakes we make and learn from, they will make us who we are. There are problems in the world too big for us to solve by ourselves, but small things, like the park trail that’s been cleared of litter, or the person who was able to have a full meal from the local soup kitchen, they still matter, and they are the things we can do with our own two hands. Together.
