We say we practice yoga because we practice āsana. And yes, āsana is part of yoga. But sometimes we don't practice, but we perform āsana. Yoga is not something we perform but a method we practice (which includes the āsana), and at the same time is the state we achieve through this method. The state of transcending the movement and distractions of the mind, the state of looking inside as an observer, aware and equanimous. The state on which we gain control over the involuntary of our body and the unconscious of our mind. The state on which there is no suffering or sorrow, but acceptance, love and appreciation. The state on which we have let go of our desires, expectations and attachment to results. The state on which we have recognized that "I" and "we" is the same... Yoga is all of that. So, can you see the difference on how our craving for hand standings has nothing to do with yoga, but the observation and recognition of this craving does? And yet, we need to crave and have desires, we need to suffer, we need to perform, we need to be distracted, we need to be outside... first... so we can start turning the story to the other side... and transcend it (instead of suppressing it). 📸 photo by @veronica.quiros.c #yoga #handstanding #armbalance #vrschikasana #scorpion #scopionpose #backdending #yogaasana #yoga #yogaisequanimity #befreeandenjoy #lifeisaplayground #yogatravel #luanafarayoga (at Rishikesh, Uttarakhand)
