I always felt that Willow and Xander weren’t exactly the people Buffy was the closest with. They’re friends because they came along at the right time and went through a lot with her, but Buffy never seemed to be as trusting with them as she was with Giles, or Angel and Spike for that matter.
I love Xander, but I always viewed him as being portrayed a little as a racist. He was completely rude and prejudice to Angel and Spike just because they were vampires. Also, when Anya returned to being a demon he treated her like she was disgusting. Anya’s personality never changed once she joined the Scoobies! He only found her disgusting because she wasn’t human anymore.
