Thought of maybe adding Kara (i have not seen the movie at all but ive seen posts about her😔🥀) at some point to my superboymom!reader fic ???? and then started thinking if i should play around with kryptonian biology since we're already here lmao
I started imagining what if somehow Conner's existence pulls out a sort of pheromone from Superman?
But also Clark sort of fully smells Conner as reader's kid(like he smells her on him, idk how to explain but there's a specific scent he associates with the reader and its mixed with Conner's) bc ITS JUST THERE(also bc he highkey is a deadbeat and wants nothing to do with him💔), he just can't pinpoint the feeling he gets from that. Nor can he identify that it's bc of their physiology.
But anywyas back to my point: at some point once Kara enters the stage in the story, she returns, and there's a notable difference to the last time she was with Clark. She physically cringes and is so blunt with it that she goes
"Why do you smell pregnant?!"
But it's more of in disgust and confusion lmao but also she might be drunk so she's having a terrible time trying to explain what she means.
Clark, having grown up on earth, has no idea what she's talking about and is horrified at what she might mean lmao. He gets self-conscious and asks her if he actually reeks like sweat or something.
Basically, after finding out about Conner[who is only known as superboy for the beginning part of the story bc he doesn't actually have a proper name], something in Clark's body was triggered and now his alien biology is working its thing lmao.
So, in actuality, every time Clark goes to see him, it's only bc his body is urging him to check on his offspring. He can't stay away from him for too long. It sort of gives him weird withdrawals and forces him to be a part of Conners life. Kara doesn't connect the dots until later on when she meets him but yeah.
And the reason for her reaction being so specific is bc his biology is working against his human mindset, and since reader is currently acting as Conners caregiver his body reacted to that information and their roles are sort of reversed in alien terms.
Ig I'll headcanon that the fathers develop stronger bonds with their children when they're babies bc they leave the mother to recover?? I'm just spitballing atp but you catch my drift right😔 and anyway. Reader is the "male" in their "relationship". Bc this is actually a situationship lmao. And then there's the fact that reader is already married and coupled with Bruce so it's all just an entertaining mess to Kara.
Like imagine.
" Ayo cus' ur crazy for having an affair baby but kudos bc I didn't think you had it in you" and it's just her making her own assumptions when neither of you were involved in this baby making process 😭😭😭
Eventually she has to explain to Clark that his sudden bouts of anxiety and increased physical touch are rly him scenting both you and Conner and to make sure yall are still alive and to "ward off" any potential predators/suitors/threats😬and she's like "ur such a girl failure bruh"😜
Anyways yeah. Idk if I did this whole "scenting" trope correctly but that's my take on it on my au specifically lmao.
Also a funnier mention: Clark ends up feeling an attraction to Bruce as well bc all he can smell on him is you, and he has to battle his own body from reacting to the BOTH of you now. Idk maybe his body sometimes tries to tell him, "let's have another" to get him to procreate but he doesn't know what's going on so he just gets sick with weird ass fevers lmao. But yeah I'm just yapping.
