And photos of my entire crew! (Minus incoming head as I have no clue who they will be. From the top down:
Nomine: Soom MD Amber Resin Fullset. Calm, collected, generally prefers dressing up in more formal wear unless actively working. Has a collection of tea cups and guns of various sizes.
Lawson Rivena: SoomĀ SO Wolf in Tawny Skin. Heās a playboy and uses this to his advantage. Prefers semi-dressy outfits that are casual. Button up shirts and good jeans.
Mirisa:Ā Soom MD Breccia Resin Fullset (although kept with human legs). Eventually will be a Mori-themed lady. She is actually proud of her ears and eyes. Works under Nomine.
Heleri: Souldoll Shiva with four arms in Gray skin (two armed bust available too). Swaps between having many arms or two. Depends on how much workload there is in the tea shop. Works for Nomine. Prefers to make her own clothing. Loves music.Ā
Syrobi: Twigling Ingenue, C bust (medium), short torso and long legs in Pink Skin from 2015 preorder (to be as close as the original Twigling body). Prefers post-apocalyptic like clothing, loves black. (Sheās new so I donāt have anything made for her yet!) Kind of stumbling. Is kind of ashamed of her eyes as they are still changing.
Stella Kalrin: Dollzone Clare fullset (with changes). Is a well-known half-breed. Great with a sword. Kind of cold-hearted.
Deimos Rivena: Cousin to Lawson. More of the head of household than his father or his cousin. Looks cold, but actually is quite nice. Has a crush on Stella and is the only one to know her motives.
------
Sienna: Resinsoul Li on the standard body she comes on (small bust, double jointed body). Total splurge purchase but she will wear anything. No set eyes, wig or anything, really.
Sparrow Surana: Withdoll Nana with small bust in real UV skin. Apostate version from an abandoned RP blog. AĀ āwhat if she never became a Grey Warden and still somehow escaped Kinloch Holdā experiment that went long awry. Oversized menās clothing with some tailoring to help keep it on her body. Dragon Age had taken over my life and she is the result.Ā

I think Iām going to cave and buy a quick outfit for Lawson. I just wonāt have time to sew for him and do a faceup before the next meet. On top of that do an outfit for Heleri (and crochet two projects). Well, K2 has some cute things that will totally fit his colors and sizing and with a good pair of DollZone shoes is under $100.Ā
And Iām not sure how a button up shirt would be sewn yet. So an example is a good idea.
Total cleaning time: four hours. I still need to take a bit of a sanding cloth to finish out some of the deep crevices. Remind me never to paint with dark grays and blacks again.
Seriously thinking of a brown and green theme. I blame that idea thatās been in my head. But mom is coming to show me how to use the airbrush she gave me in a couple of weeks. Maybe I can blush and such over the winter.
Well, inbetween working on Shepard. My goal is by the end of January to have the bodysuit finished and shoes/gloves purchased.
I caved. I bought a DZ Frieda. Some clothes for Deimos and a wig and shoes for Scarecrow Hal (the freebie doll). Six month layaway but I am stupidly sure I can pay if off early.
So thatās three (four if you include the freebie YoSD from DZ) dolls that are incoming or on layaway. Oops.Ā
Iāve been sitting on this for a little bit. Friday is the last day I can order if I want to order some extra items Iāve been drooling afterĀ (for Deimos) and get a free little YoSD (thus the wig and the shoes).Ā
I can actually afford it on a six month layaway, which is what I will assume will happen since the Frieda is delicate and judging from the excitement on Tumblr and Facebook... there is certainty that DZ got slammed with orders. Especially since itās an event as well.Ā
There are zero plans for the YoSD as well as the Frieda. But man do I want a little mermaid thatās actually within budget. And to get a freebie YoSD (there are none on the shelf) makes it worth even more.

So thanks to @alchemistsfire I ended up with nice tiny little eyelets to set in corsets. I can now make reversible corsets! Found an appropriate setter for them today at Joannās with colored eyelets inside. So Iāll be set for a little while at least. (Apparently my own setter was too large and could not be used. I was arther bummed. But at least it was $5 on sale.)
I just have to alter that pattern, alter the Souldoll Corset pattern Ā and then make writeups on how I made them. Probably one more pattern test for the MSD reversible corset and I should be cool. Then test the MSD legging pattern.
Honest I am doing things for the Weekly doll post, but I do need to get more basics finished before doing things like custom clothing.
I also need to shop for fabrics for a couple of corset ideas. And buy interfacing. Stupid interfacing.
Okay, so we know thereās a lot of doll companies out there. Some are far more popular than others. Some just rocketed themselves to new territory releasing a pretty little mermaid that reminds me so much of the original Moment/Anson release from the same company a few years prior. (Although the new DollZone Mermaids have seriously tempted me.)
But there are many ways of ordering. Some is the cart system we all know and tend to love. Some are email only. Many go with ordering periods. And many more work with dealers in other countries (meaning these can be local). Letās look into these different types.
The Cart System
This is something we all kind of know, right? Select what options you wish and hit add to cart. This requires you to sign up for an account and from within the account you can even track progress to a certain extent. This is by far the most common way to order a doll. Look, Fairyland even lets you know whatās included, skin options, extra options and even an estimated processing time. Many pages will let you know basic information about a doll regarding size, price point and options.
Paying can be either through Paypal, credit card or in some rare cases bank transfer. However most of us are used to using Paypal. Payment systems are different between companies, so double check how the process works before purchasing.
Ordering Periods
Taken from the Soom page for [SO] Beryl - Never Ending Dream.
Many sites (Soom is notorious for this) will only offer a special doll for a certain amount of time. If you look, this time will be listed. Sometimes it is not and the ordering period is so random that someone must stalk the website for such a time. Also keep in mind some companies discontinue after a while (Dollzone, I am looking at you). Most of the time there will be notices somewhere on the site, whether it be an announcement or through a message board found on the site. Generally, search around for information. (Sense a recurring theme already?)
Email
In addition to this, some websites allow you to email in different orders. Take for a example a few years ago when I wanted a doll head on a different body. The company I wanted to order through was Resinsoul. So I simply emailed through their contact page and whoot, they emailed me back within a day (keep in mind these are Asian countries so some contacts can take a while). Invoice was sent through paypal and a month later we had a doll.
Resinsoul is known for doing custom orders through email. Want transparent resin for a ghost character? Elf ears on a sculpt that does not have elf ears? Human ears on an elf ear sculpt? Sure. Theyāre super cool about this.
Again, check the company page and see what their policies are about emailing. If translation is needed, add in extra time as many companies do not have English speaking representatives.
Dealers
Many stores deal with dealers in other countries to spread the word without all the hassle of translation or even dealing with an English website. There are three major dealers located in the United States. (Mint on Card, JunkySpot and DenverDoll Emporium). Check around for dealers in your area. Ask other doll owners in your country.
The best part about dealers is that most donāt charge shipping coming to them, so you only pay shipping from the dealer to you. In most cases, this saves quite a bit. For example, when I ordered a DollZone Clare from Mint on Card, shipping was only $25, fully insured and tracked with a signature. From DollZone itself, it probably would have been close to $80. Plus if anythingās wrong, the dealer will work with the company to remedy the problem and act as a middle man. I totally recommend this option.
Layaway
The cool thing about many of the larger companies (and many dealers as well) is that they offer layaway. Many are simply three month layaways with some companies going up to six months to pay off your doll and shipping. But watch the finances, since many times a missed payment can rack up extra money or even cancellation without gaining what was sent over in the first place.
Second Hand
There are many second hand doll groups. Facebook, Tumblr, Den of Angels just to name a few. Many offer layaway and can save money, plus quite a few come with extras! Iāve personally bought about half my collection second hand. We will go further into detail on these next week.
Doll Companies
The real reason people are here, right? Well, this is just a small list off the top of my mind. There are tons more and all I ask is donāt reblog just to add more companies. This list is not to be exhaustive. A simple google search brings up a plethora of lists that have many more companies on them.
And current sewing stuffs. Cute Luts/CP 2005 Juri under the cut. Some NSFW mentions of dolly boobs.
Is it too early to start planning out for next year? Well considering how fast this year has gone by for myself, maybe not. So far the plans for this year have gone somewhat decently with a major surprise of gaining the second grail on my list.
Iām currently sewing for this lovely lady. Sheās a 2005 Juri borrowed from my local dolly friend reichiere. Rose is such a lovely doll. She poses like a champ still and is just far too cute. Although she doesnāt fit in with my crew, there is a certain sass with those eyes.
Iām attempting to do kind of a similar theme to the Soom Heliot ladyās dress that was released recently. A simple underbust coreset that flows into a long skirt over a white ruffled dress. The sleeves are connected to the main dress, so thatās the main problem. I think I have something in mind but if it is messed up, Iām basically doing to do things differently.Ā
But the fun part is that looking at the body is pretty cool. I noticed just how the breasts are sculpted and you can see the entire areola. The whole thing and just how beautfully sculpted they are. Natural without being super perky like some brands. But thatās a side point.
Iām planning on picking up a Withdoll Nana here in about two weeks. The money should be there soon barring the loan to the boyfriend for car repairs is finished. To officially have Sparrow to work on and have fun with over the winter will probably be a good thing since I doubt I will wish to work overly much on the incoming Twigling Ingenue besides sewing her basic outfit.
Next year Iām planning on two SDs from the same company. Iplehouse SID Giorgio and SID Storm. If to get one, then Storm takes priority. May try to pick up a MiniFee just for the sake of having one, but I doubt that will be the case. I also would love to pick up a Resinsoul Tang in light tan and potentially a Rong on the Li body with some green transparent parts for a forest spirit? Right now i doubt I can afford it. The IH dolls are going to take priority next year since thatās a large chunk of my money right there.
