Which numbers matter most in the debate over Senate Bill 1275?
PASSHE chancellor Frank Brogan spoke about PA Senate bill 1275 and said, “there is strength in numbers”.
The numbers he speaks of include a significant gap in funding for higher education over upcoming years. This gap is a result of cuts by current governor Tom Corbett in 2011, and universities say they have exhausted areas in which they can reduce spending and eliminate faculty and staff positions.
The Chancellor is asking for more money, but Tom Corbett and Pennsylvania lawmakers say there isn't any more, so they've drafted a bill that starts a discussion about new ideas.
