Today is Walk & Roll to School Day! Mayor Breed & I joined kids, parents & teachers from El Dorado Elementary to show how important it is to have a safe way to get to school without driving. Moses, a 5th grader in Berkeley, was our star witness for our complete streets bill, #SB127. SB 127 requires Cal Trans to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists & transit users on “state highways” that are also city surface streets. Moses crosses Ashby Ave. to get to school & his mom won’t let him do it alone since it isn’t safe. We need to make these state-owned streets safer.
