Hort is a saint, I swear
Tbh, I’m really happy that Los-sensei is so uncomfortable with Saybil liking her. In a lot of other animes, the teacher would have developped the beginnings of a crush by now and would actually consider returning their student’s feelings, but would be held back by their morality as an adult and teacher until they finally cave in. And while it’s possible that Los-sensei will end up returning Saybil’s feelings, this seems unlikely for now, considering how much time they’ve already spent together and how Los-sensei, since learning Saybil has feelings for her, hasn’t shown a single hint of returning his feelings or being torn about what to do about them.
And yeah, part of why I’m happy that this ship seems unlikely to actually take form is because of the age gap thingy, but also just because I’m happy to see something different for once, especially since Los-sensei is already hundreds of years old ; I’d find it a little stupid, tbh, if she started acting like she’s never had a crush or been in love before just because one of her students said he liked her. Her childish aspects so far have always been based on throwing tantrums, which is consistent with her characterisation as someone who doesn’t show much concern for social norms ; in all other aspects, she’s been every bit of the respectable, knowledgeable and talented witch and teacher we would expect of someone who has been alive for so long, even when it came to noticing little hints in the village and reasoning that the witch in charge wanted to test the students and for her to not get in the way.
What she doesn’t handle well here is the fact that Saybil doesn’t back down from his claim of liking her, not the compliments he gives out, and you can see that by her stressed expression and lack of a blush. It’s refreshing.
