How had things ended up like this, they had once hated each other but here they were now.
For Regina this had so much sense that she visibly shook. Emma was on the same lever as her and that could have repulsed her before but not now. Time has changed and so they did. The old Regina would have never melt into the kiss of Snow’s daughter.

She began but her throat was dry and she had to take another breath and try seconds later.

Regina had heard the mansion door open and close; it was no small noise, and even if it had been, she was a light sleeper. It had set her on alert, staring at the ceiling as she lay in wait of whoever thought it wise to creep into her house at this hour.
For whatever idiotic reason, her uninvited guest had snuck up into her room moments later, and before the Mayor had time to leap to her feet, the visitor had slipped into her bed.
With a start, she spun on to her side to face the intruder. Her eyes burned with fire, ready to begin attacking whoever was within her sheets-- until she caught sight of who exactly it was.
