ya’ll wanna hear something sad?
I just saw a job posting for a full time position that requires a PhD and the starting salary is 35k. For someone with who spent 10 years of their life to get a fucking PhD, not including the number of years spent in a postdoctoral position.
For reference: I have a job as a research technician in a lab. I make 30k. I have a BS that I finished a month before I started that position. I make 5k less than someone with a PhD.
The average starting salary in my state for a person with an RN-BSN is 45k. I’ve seen entry level administrative assistant positions that are advertising a starting salary of 35k. Don’t get a higher ed degree if you don’t need one! I’m begging you! Especially if it isn’t a funded program, save your money!!
