From the rooftop of my apartment complex, I watched the sun rise on another new year! In Japan it’s called Hatsuhinode. It is the welcoming of the first sunrise of the New Year. It is thought that paying careful attention to and appreciating all of the firsts on the first day of the new year will bring you a year of good fortune. This is my ritual. Watch the sunrise on New Year’s Day and then for the rest of the day I reflect on the past year. I celebrate my achievements and what i have learned. I am crystal clear on what I want to manifest and achieve for the year to come. Since this is a new decade, I expanded my thoughts to the next 10 years with a heavier focus on the year to come. For me it’s more about the world and the people in it than it is about myself but there’s room in there for personal growth too.
