Moon, Mars & Saturn
...taken Oct 2, 2020. The top photo shows the Moon with Mars above it near the top of the frame. The 2nd is a cropped version of the moon from the same photo. Lower left is a 100% cropped image of Mars from the top photo, and lower right is a separate 100% crop of Saturn & it’s rings (click on them to see them at Tumblr’s highest resolution).
FYI...the Moon is currently about 252,000 miles (406,000 km) from the Earth. Mars is about 38.6 million miles (62 million km) from the Earth, and Saturn is about 890 million miles +/- 120 million miles (1.44 billion km +/- 200 million km) (The distances for the Moon & Mars are based on current orbital positions - My quick search for Saturn only gave me closest and furthest approaches)
Using Sigma 100-400mm zoom (at 400mm) with a 1.4x tele-extender on my Canon 90D (shot on a tripod and using a cable release). With the 90D’s crop factor, this is the equivalent of a 901.6mm lens on a standard 35mm camera. Moon & Mars taken at f/16, 1/500 sec. ISO-800. Saturn taken at f/11, 1/30sec. ISO-800.
I’m getting better images after swapping out a bad UV filter that was causing some horizontal ghosting.
