Earlier last year, a very good friend of mine was sexually assaulted during her time in Japan, teaching in the JET Program. The assailant was another Assistant Language Teacher in the program, and despite all of my friend's efforts, no justice was carried out -- neither by JET administrators or the Nagasaki prefectural Board of Education. The case was recently reopened by a City Council representative and discussed with the Board, but again, no real action was taken. My friend does not deserve this injustice.
