I have decided to dish out the hard funds to get a personal trainer! :D

I say, violently ignoring the financial anxiety creeping up behind me

She's been in the business for a long time, has a great educational background, and experience with similar injuries

It's been a lot of fun getting out of the house and talking to people and I actually feel really good when it's done, I'm hoping if I can build more muscle I can get a bit more stabilization on my feet because I'm still prone to falling

But like, seriously, I'm enjoying it??? New hobby unlocked?? I WANT TO DEADLIFT 400LBS AND SHE SAYS I ABSOLUTELY CAN

I love spice, Indian food is top 3, it's going to ruin my physio because it's next door to my favorite shop and I don't know that physio followed by a delicious thali tray are all that compatible longterm, the lovely ladies at the counter know me too well these days

Followed by fish, because my family comes from a small island next to a smaller island where fishing and mining is the only thing we know

But on that note, may I introduce the humble touton

I'm pretty sure there's a couple similar type breads, if your family has it by another name, tell me about it!!

A staple from my childhood that can be eaten sweet or savory, for or with any meal, but usually in the AM

Make a bread dough, it's got to have lard in it, let it rise, tear off a piece, flatten and stretch it, and throw it in the fryer

Preferably deep fry in lard, with your gross lard pan that every newfie family keeps

Usually served with either syrup in the morning, molasses with lunch, or dipped in brown gravy with dinner

Dipping it in ketchup is considered a sin but we all do it

They were sometimes a treat for children, who were fed them so they wouldn’t gobble up all the fresh-baked bread. There was no exact recipe for touton/bread dough in outport communities; each maker generally relied on recipes and techniques passed down orally or through observation.

Which made me think of this adorable story of learning the bread dough recipe (it really is like that)

I make a point of not misrepresenting myself, so to anyone who may have seen the comment, as a reminder, my experience in the field was very brief, my required hours to become licensed.

But I did not become licensed and I did not return to the field.

I went back to school for law, for which I WAS licensed, but I don't do that anymore either, because I'm way too socially awkward and non-commission, essential sales pays my personality type more.

And I'm happy. Way happier than I could have been in either of those fields. I love my job and the people I work with.

I'm chuckling too hard to write anything coherent, so we'll let it speak for itself. I do a Lady Loki cosplay sometimes, but I figured The Mango is worthy to borrow my horns.
