Coming back from the restroom to see someone flirting with his friend was not what Jim had signed up for tonight. He had signed up for a nice chat and some good booze, maybe a bowl of pretzels, but definitely not this. What infuriated him the most, was that the guy didnât seem to notice how uncomfortable he was making Bones. He just kept flirting, and in the time it took for Jim to walk across the room to the guy, he had decided he had had enough.
Jim grabbed the guyâs shirt and pulled him away from Bones, punching him hard enough to knock him out in that single hit. When the guy hit the floor, Jim smirk through gritted teeth, and truing to the bartender he said, âAdd a knuckle sandwich to his tab.â
He turned to Bones with a laugh, his smile too bright considering he was pretty sure he broke his hand on the poor guys face. âCorn-fed?â He laughed wholeheartedly as his Bones looked over his hand. He hissed when it was moved in the wrong direction. âThink it might be broken, but who cares. You just said corn-fed. What does that even mean Bones?â
Leonard had hopped up from his seat the moment Jimâs fist came in contact with the other manâs jaw. âJESUS. Are yâcrazy?!â He was getting worked up quickly as he saw the state of the captainâs hand. That had been some punch and Bones told him just so, âYouâd have made one hell of a boxer in another life, Jim.âÂ
Quickly deciding that he was going to only play doctor to one man today, Bones left the man on the ground to be someone elseâs problem and just about dragged Jim out of the bar after nearly growling at the bartender to get him some ice.Â
The worry lines were deep on McCoyâs brow as he lead Jim to the side of the bar, making him lean against the wall. âIt means youâre an impulsive idiot who might have just broke his hand,â he growled, not actually angry. Very carefully, Bones had Jimâs hand splayed in his palm and shoved the small cup of ice cubes in the captainâs useable hand before plucking out one of the cubes. Hazel eyes glanced up at Jimâs face as he gently pressed the ice to one of the knuckles that was already starting to bruise. â--Thank you though...â His voice grew low. âBut I could have handled it,â he lied  quickly.Â
