Slowly trying to make my way through tumblr by subscribing (is that the word the kids use here these days?) the sarcaschicks. Even though they stopped making videos on their collab channel (and then started and stopped again, breaking my heart), I still call them that. I don't this we'll be a thing.
have sarcaschicks stoped again??
What the hell is a sarcaschick?
I am a mostly teetotaller
In that I don't drink alcohol. This is in response to a particular conversation happening in the internet at the moment.
I don't drink alcohol for a multitude of reasons, all of them personal and all of them my own choice. However, it is not unusual for me to lie about my reasons in public to make other people feel better about my decision.
Dont' get me wrong, I don't judge people who do drink alcohol, I will give you a lift home at the end of the night and make sure you have a glass of water on your bedside table for when you wake up. I am perfectly happy being the designated driver for that evening because I have no issue with not drinking.
Even when I went to the Uni in my first year, I didn't drink, and I was more then happy to receive a phone call at 1 am asking for a lift home. Because I genuinely don't care that other people drink.
But people seem to have a problem with me.
I have had people shake their head and glare at me when I ask in line at a bar if I can have a soft drink because to them I am wasting the bar tender's time with my crappy ass drink when they could be getting them alcohol.
I have had people attempt to spike my drink in hopes that they will get me drunk, not knowing that I not only have seen you do this, but I can taste alcohol dickheads.
At a wedding, I was a bridesmaid and had a groomsmen purposefully hand me a drink in the back of the car despite my protest and ignored the fact my sister had purposefully packing non alcholic drinks for me in the limo. His words "stop being selfish and just drink it" really got me in the mood that night.
I have nearly been banned from a formal ball because I protested the high cost of a ticket due to alcohol cost included and requested a package be formed for those that weren't going to partake. When I say that it was a high cost I'm not saying it was an extra 20, I mean it was an extra 60. They told me they basically didn't trust me that I wasn't going to drink and if I didn't pay, I didn't go.
I have been turned down for taxis because they don't want to pick up 'some drunk girl'.
I have been drug tested by police when at a breathaliser test I mentioned that I didn't drink alcohol. They didn't believe me as I was on my probationary license.
My particular favourite lately was that I was scheduled to work during the work Christmas party because when they were rostering they thought it was pointless me coming if I wasn't going to drink.
I have only ever mentioned somebody's drinking habits to them when turned down medical advice from their own GP about cutting back and their sclera was turning yellow, signs of liver failure at my own age. Yet I have my own questioned all the time.
So I lie. I make up a reason, bad history, can't with medications I'm on, early presentation the next day, need to drive home etc etc. When the truth is I find the taste bad, the cost high and the consequences ridiculous. Those are my own opinions about what is right for me, but I don't judge you for yours.
Don't judge me for mine.

I hope you put the sarcaschicks on your Women on YouTube series. Hayley Hoover and Rosianna are awesome too, and strong female role models.
Oh my god yes. It all depends if they're down to do it or not.
OH OH I forgot to mention that Cranks vegetarian sandwiches and wraps are also really great! Try those! Even if it's just for the awesome punny names they ha...
