it’s been a while, thank you for the tags @paperstorm @everlastingday @bonheur-cafe I don’t have anything lone star to share but I have been working on something for the pitt so here’s a little of that

Trinity Santos hadn’t come to the Pitt to make friends and she most definitely wasn’t looking for family. Pushing people away had become second nature by now. She had to, she’d learned the hard way it wasn’t safe to let people in. Like med school she was taking an every woman for themselves approach—or trying to.

Still, somehow, she found herself being swept up into a dysfunctional ER family. Much like Marmalade—the stray ginger kitten she found in the campus parking lot one rainy night her first week of med school—they’d all found their way into their heart in their own ways.

The first to do so was Huckleberry. After taking in the med student after her first shift when she found him living in the hospital, Dennis had become the younger brother she didn’t know she’d needed in her life. He was annoying at times, sure, and over earnest but he cared deeply, he cooked surprisingly well, he wasn’t afraid to pick up a pack of tampons for her at the grocery store and always remembered to put the toilet seat down. If it came to it, she’d protect him with her life.

Then there was Mel, who’d fast become the brightest point of every shift. Mel who made Trinity’s heart beat fast just thinking about her. She was a little—a lot—scared of how fast she caught feelings for the bright, bubbly resident.
