You know that whirring sound a kettle makes when it boils? Yeah, that sound was coming straight from Santa’s ears, right alongside the trademark steam. The kid was right, there was a time and place to play games... and now was NOT that time. 

The supposedly jolly man reaches for the kid’s collar in attempts to speak to him face to face. He gives Dexter a firm glare. 

“ LISTEN KID. THIS LITTLE CHARADE YOU’RE PULLIN’ ISN’T FUNNY. THOUSANDS OF KIDS WENT WITHOUT A CHRISTMAS BECAUSE OF YOU. DONNER STILL ISN’T THE SAME AFTER WHAT YOU DID. “ 

He motions towards a trembling reindeer near his sleigh. 

“ SO WHY DON’T YOU DO EVERYONE A FAVOR AND STEP ASIDE? “

Now, Dexter is a mean case when it comes to arguing. He can go on and on and on, even if it was clear from the first word he uttered that he was fighting a losing battle. Most of the time he didn't know when to call it quits, which could land him in all sorts of trouble.

It's a rare occurrence that he loses before he can even start.

Dexter is, needless to say, not at all prepared for such an intensely harsh retaliation. His fear is plain and obvious on his visage, and he makes no attempts to pull himself away. He's about the same as a deer in headlights... a reindeer in headlights, if you will. Not even Mandark was capable of causing this type of fear — nowhere near it, in fact.

He's silent, after it's all over. He slowly draws himself back into an awkward cower. As with most children, his reaction to a sudden, terribly surprising shock is not a positive one — the tears come automatically, but he seems to realize what he was doing before they can progress much further. His expression twists, becoming angry and hurt, and he rubs his eyes into his sleeve with far more force than what was necessary.

"FINE, then," he spits out, dragging a hand across his face that's then pulled away and shaken as if dirty. "I don't know— I don't know what you're talking about, but f-fine! If it has to be at my expense for all those little kids— so that they can have their stupid, dumb Christmas, then fine. Who am I to deprive them of that?"
