Community Spotlight: La Mesa
La Mesa, the ‘jewel of the hills,’ isn’t what the standard out-of-towner would imagine as San Diego, but this jewel has much to offer. We have listed some of our favorite things about La Mesa for this edition of Community Spotlight for your exploration.

BO – Beau Kitchen & Garden. One of the newest restaurants to hit the La Mesa scene, it exuberates bohemian chic with a twist of industrial elegance. Oktoberfest. Every first full weekend in October, La Mesa Village closes down for a complete German culture takeover to celebrate the return of fall. Add great food, children activities, entertainment, good old German brats and cold beer and you have a family event that has something for everyone.
Mount Helix. With some of the most breathtaking views of the city, Mt. Helix is a great place for a weekend walk with friends or family. Power yoga sessions, plays and art camps for kids also take place in the amphitheater atop of the mountain. The park is located at 4905 Mt. Helix Drive in San Diego County between La Mesa and El Cajon.
