Hey love your drawings and, since I would really like to draw stuff like yours, what kind of exercises did you do when you started drawing? I've been drawing every for about a year now and I don't know what I should focus on, figure drawing with reference or imagination, studying anatomy or cartoony art styles, any tips? Thank you!
I don’t think you should choose between things like reference/imagination or cartoony stuff/anatomy, they’re all useful skills to practice.Anatomy will help with structure regardless of the style you’re working with, an understanding of gesture from animation or cartoons will help to keep things from looking rigid, and using/studying references will expand your visual library and make it easier to draw from imagination. If you want direction, your ability to see mistakes improves over time while you’re practicing art, just use the mistakes you see in your own art to guide your practice. If you can’t see mistakes currently, just keep drawing and studying things you like and things from reality until you can.
