Vimes: You can’t sleep? 

Sybil: ...

“We just have to!”, was the woman’s answer to her friend, letting the eyes wander. Since bad news has come to their ears in which an attack on their camp was included they both were the only one to warn the people living there and preparing for defense.

In a world wandered by the living dead and people so aggressive that they shoot each other simply out of fun it didn’t matter if the former or the latter were the ones who start an attack. In this case it were the living and the two women had to hurry. “Come one!”, Aya said and began to run since they did not have a car, a bike or the like to travel back.

Ooooh samsyb for the ship ask! I love them!

I have so many things to say about samsyb. It’s the way that the pair of them make absolutely zero sense as a couple, and yet at the it simultaneously feels completely inevitable that they’d end up together. And then we get to watch these two middle-aged people with some of the kindest and biggest hearts in the city gradually fall more and more in love with each other. Throughout the books, their relationship is never static, it’s always evolving, and that’s a pleasure to read and actually quite a rare thing to see.

And Vimes is a cynic who doesn’t know how to cope with this sudden affection and devotion, and Sybil is a bit of a romantic who seems to feel that romanticism is almost treacherous to her very sensible and practical upbringing and values.

On her way home Ayako crossed the park as usually, already searching for her keys in her bag as she noticed someone out of the corner of her eye. At first she thought it was just a stranger but after a closer look she had to blink twice.

“Sam?” It was almost midnight and it was weird to see her here. With fast steps and a really confused look on her face Aya came closer. “Sam?”, she asked again.

“Okay, Sam!” With her arms akimbo the woman leaned in, pointing with one hand at the few pups behind the fence where they were running around on a small grass field.

“Which one do you want?” They were all too cute to not buying them but when they decided to get one so they both can take care of it they also decided to begin with just one dog.
