it happened all out of a sudden. at the end of the last hour of a three week deeply transforming process i stepped out of the group-room at about 4pm, probably in order to follow my daily routine by heading towards the meditation-hall - and - to my great surprise found myself suddenly outside the body and somewhat helpless for the experience presented a completely changed perception of the body/mind and also the functioning of it had drastically changed:
there was a center of vitality, energy exactly there where the hara is but outside the body, maybe some hand’s width apart from the body and this was identified somehow as ‘me’; from this perspective watching the body/mind acting, being an object in the same way as all other objects around - the trees, the bushes, the sun, the footpath - happened.
with all this happening the body/mind’s functioning had changed almost breathtakingly: the body/mind had become bliss, every breath, in-breath and out-breath just and only bliss, the simple act of walking, lifting the foot, bringing it down again all and only bliss, the body movements had become graceful by itself, very slow and the body felt extremely light, just floating its way, mere walking was pure benediction.
more so, what had haunted me for years, the fact to be somehow always run by mind without any chance to get out there, from this new perspective this mind entirely could be observed as an object outside of this new ‘me’, a tool performing its task somewhat neutrally by simply describing, without any interpretation, what was happening - like a golden string, very fast and with absolute accuracy.
all this was accompanied by a feeling of solid intensity and i remember producing the thought: ‘i can’t stand this for long’. meanwhile i had reached the meditation-hall where people at this time performed the scheduled meditation, as i had done before numerous times. only, that this time it was completely different.
as i did know about ‘doing’ this meditation, namely in its first part shaking the body - this new body, this bliss body functioned not from ‘doing’ - i remember me standing there among others and the body in a incredibly slow manner moved a very little bit and all was bliss and nothing else. at some moment i felt like turning my head finding myself looking at a woman known to me and i could only read in her eyes that she was aware about that ‘something’ was happening.
after about one hour things changed as suddenly as it had started again to ‘normal’.
recalling all this the lasting impression is still that i had an experience of the body/mind as it is meant to function as provided by nature uninhibited by any mental identification. this identification is responsible for the heaviness we otherwise experience and the relative mental fogginess as well.
it is maybe understandable that after this happened, for years i tried to integrate the experience and did also intensive research work by investigating in what is known as ‘obe’ (out of body) experience.
i could not find any similar reports and quite often felt that the people reporting, possibly describing rather mental journeys and are taken by their imagination.
also what i am sharing here may all sound a little out-worldly, to me the experience is noted as rather truly down to earth and very real - maybe beyond real.
