We follow the town eccentric around the day leading up to his wake and the exact moment he dies. This was a quirky odd little film, starting off with an in-movie documentary starring #JimGaffigan as his father, a “benevolent dictator of an ant colony”, a personality of numbers who promises to tell his son, the main character something but if I remeber correctly, dies before he can do that, setting his son on a trajectory he may not have intended. That portrait of father Binew 😆, overall the movie had a Wes Anderson-ian imitation feel, not that it didn’t stand on it’s own; shabby Chic, the whole film had a sepia-toned green/brown color scheme - kind of like a more morbid Withnail and I. Laughing at the duck was a bit weird, as was the picnic with the older woman. #JesseEisenberg’s accent 😆 oh lord. The performances at the wake, wowza, kind of reminded me of Swiss Army Man (though this came out first), the whole wake and viking funeral. Meeting the Binew family....man. I would watch this one again. #ssmovieof2018 #comedy #blackcomedy #darkcomedy #JillLarson #DianeKagen #CalebWentworth #SamGoldfarb #EddiePepitone #BenDuhl #MatthewCowles #StephenBrianJones #PeterPaton #ColombeJacobsonDerstine #AnnDowd (omg her scenes at the library 😆I wana read the books he tried to drop off/donate!) #MarkSchutte writer: #PeterKline (written by), #MikeOConnell (written by) director: #SolTryon movie of 2018 number 4) #TheLivingWake
