"You and I, we are not that different."
"Oh darling, believe me, I know."
"Im not sure who you think you are but I have crushed the likes of you many times before, you are no different. You are so confident though, breaking you to pieces would sure be fun!"
The villain's face lit up with excitement as he finished the sentence. The new hero seemed just like any previous boring and self righteous ones. With their morals as straight as an arrow, it was always easy to get to them, to crawl under their skin, to know what made their blood boil. It was always easy to break them. That's what the villain thought at least.
"Jeez, that's what you call fun?" The hero replied as she laughed. "No wonder I couldn't spot anyone near you while spying! You scare everyone off! I mean, I can't imagine spending my time with someone that weird."
"But listen here", she said abruptly as she lowered her voice, looking straight at the villain. "I'm not sure who you are but I have crushed the likes of you many times before, you are no different." She laughed again, as though mocking him.
The villain recognised her smile, the one he has seen so many times in the reflection of his victims' eyes. As he remembered those frightened looks, he glanced at her to catch any sign of fear. But what he saw startled him even more. It wasn't just the sardonic smile he knew so well but her cold eyes, empty of any rage but full of disgust. Those eyes too were familiar to him.
"Is this what they all saw at the end?" He thought to himself.
"Are you trying to intimidate me?" He asked at last with a smile, "because if that's so, repeating my own words aren't gonna help you.
I'll admit though, you don't seem boring, which means breaking you would be even more of a pleasure."
"Oh? Ha ha! What are you into my friend? I'm intrigued! Ha ha ha!"
The villain noticed that cold voice in her laugh again, lacking in real emotions. He became even more confident that she knew all about it, she knew all about him. The hero knew that they were alike and she knew how to use it.
"This is going to be interesting", they thought, looking at each other. "This is going to be fun!"
