This is my painting of one of Sam Desantis’ photographs. I’ve had this picture saved on my phone since she posted it because I thought it’d make a nice painting and it worked for the project I’m working on at school so I finally painted it.
I like how most of it came out but a) I messed up when I was drawing it out which really annoys me but I didn’t notice until it was too late b) I haven’t worked with oil paints in years and I didn’t really get the hang of it until like halfway through the painting so it took me WAY longer than it probably should have.
I never really thought I could even do a painting like this. I was always scared to paint people and doing a painting this big was a huge commitment I wasn’t sure I was ready for. But it happened and its done and I feel a lot more confident in my painting skills after doing this (even if I’m not 100% happy with it, but when am I ever completely happy with my paintings).
Sam's second book arrived yesterday!
