Dusk had started settling over Mondstadt, windows of the city lighting up all around as people settled in for the night. Cat’s Tail and Angel’s Share had customers starting to flow in and out, and for the most part it seemed like a normal, balmy summer night in the city. You stood in the street, trying to decide whether it’d be better to go home or to just pop in and say hi to everyone in Angel’s Share. Diluc had always been a friend to you, despite being quite reserved he was a gentleman underneath it all. His brother, however.. Always came on a bit too strong. Kaeya. Cavalry Captain. How did someone like him even reach that title? He wasn’t exactly lecherous, but you could feel the weight of his gaze any time you were in the same room. Even still, he’d never been outwardly inappropriate to you, but it was hard to hold him in the same regard as Diluc considering the stories surrounding Kaeya.
Thinking about it was only frustrating you, you shook your head and turned towards the tavern door of Angel’s Share, swinging it open and stepping into the tavern. You gave a gentle wave towards Diluc once you’d caught his eye, a small smile on your face as you walked up to the bar. He returned the greeting with a beckon of his hand, signaling you to step up to the crowded bar.
“Nothing for me,” You said, knowing he was going to ask what you wanted to drink. “I just wanted to stop in and say hi before I head home.” You gave the redhead a warm smile.
Diluc regarded you for a moment before an almost imperceptible smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
“How kind of you to think of me. Won’t you have a seat, though? I’ll just get you some grape juice at least.” He offered.
You thought about it for a few moments; you really didn’t have anything going on, you were just more of a homebody, and some tavern-goers could be a bit much.. But you’d be safe with Diluc right there anyways, right?
You shrugged your shoulders, sliding in on one of the stools in front of the bar. “Grape juice then. Just one.”
As you chatted away with Diluc, you hadn’t even taken notice of Kaeya’s icy gaze in the corner of the bar, his hand bringing the wine glass up to his lips for the nth time that night. His head was already swimming so early into the night, and Diluc was close to cutting him off. The cavalry captain was tucked away in the far corner, in the shadows of the tavern. He wasn’t a belligerent drunk; on the contrary, he was kind of brooding. It was a stark contrast to his usual personality: flamboyant and flirty. You had only taken note of the shock of dark turquoise hair after he had gotten up and stumbled out the door, slamming it behind him. You shared a look with Diluc, only to watch him shake his head.
“It’s fine,” the redhead assured you. “Anyways, it’s about time for my shift-change.” Diluc peered out the window, moonfall having settled over the city like a comfortable blanket.
“Okay. Be safe out there, I suppose I should have headed home some hours ago anyways.” You laughed quietly, swinging your legs over the side of the stool and jumping to your feet, making way for the door.
“I will. Take care of yourself.” Diluc called after you, turning towards Charles to greet him and brief him on who was close to being cut off.
You pushed the door open and stepped into the warm night air, glancing up and down the streets before setting off towards your small home in the city. You got maybe ten steps away from Angel’s Share before you heard uneven steps behind you.
“Hey!” A vaguely familiar voice barked out to you. You turned your head to see Kaeya, his long hair ruffled and unkempt, barely standing upright, his cheeks flushed from the alcohol.
“What, Kaeya?”
He stumbled towards you, his feet dragging on the cobblestone streets as he ambled his way towards you.
“Why don’t you ever talk to me like you talk to Diluc?” He mumbled, finally upon you. He looked down at you with a morose shadow in his eye. The scent of dandelion wine was a dark miasma around him, assaulting your nose as he stood a mere few inches away from you.
“You’re really drunk.. Do you want me to take you back to the Knight’s Quarters?” You offered quietly, trying to get him not to cause a scene in the city. Most citizens would be asleep by now, and you weren’t keen to let the Cavalry Captain awake them with his squabbling.
“No!” He shouted, “Answer the question.. Why don’t you like me?” He pouted down at you, pushing out his lower lip exaggeratedly. “What’s so good about-” hiccup “Diluc anyways? Sure he’s rich and-”
“Kaeya, why do you care?” You asked him seriously. He’d never made himself anything but a thorn in your side before. He’d loved putting people in high stakes situations, you included. There was a time you’d come to near collapse outside the city walls and he just let you dangle until the very last second. When you found out he’d been there the entire time you were furious with him, but he’d just laughed at you.
“Because I like you. But you like Diluc.” His speech was slurred and his breath reeked even stronger of dandelion wine.
“You don’t know what you’re saying, come on. Let’s get you to the Knights Quarters.” You said, moving to wrap an arm around his waist to hold him up.
“Nnno.. Jean.. will kill me..” Kaeya whimpered pitifully. You looked up at him and raised an eyebrow, unable to comprehend the situation right now. You knew Kaeya was a drunk, but he was usually with Rosaria who kept him in check, or Venti who was a boisterous and loud drunk and infected the room with his positive energy.
“Alright.. You can sleep in my home tonight. At least so I can make sure you’re okay.. But you’re gonna be confused come sunrise.” You explained to him. Kaeya made some non-committal grunt and shuffled his feet. He’s ready to go. You slowly made your way towards your home with the tall, blue-haired man hanging onto you every step of the way.
You dumped him onto your small bed as soon as you managed to maneuver him into your home and up the stairs. You left the room briefly to get him a glass of water, returning to the sight of him completely sprawled on your blankets, eyes glazed over and staring blankly at the ceiling.
“You can take my bed, I’ll go sleep on my sofa.” You offered
“No.” He stated plainly, as if it were a demand. “Don’t leave.” Kaeya pleaded, looking over to you. You shifted awkwardly in the doorway.
It would be a lie to say you felt nothing for Kaeya, just, your feelings for him were underlined by what a complete ass he was. He had a propensity to toy with you, tease you, like a cat would play with a mouse. While his adoptive brother was much more to the point, and always nice to you. A gentleman. It’s hard to not like Diluc. It’s hard to like Kaeya at times. You’d known the both of them for a few years, and knew there was some rivalry between the two on other fronts. You knew Diluc plainly didn’t like the Knights of Favonius, Kaeya included. But you knew little of Kaeya. He tended to keep secrets.
“Please.” His quiet pleading snapped your attention back to him.
“You won’t remember this tomorrow.” You whispered to him, moving closer to the bed and sitting on the edge. He loosely wrapped his fingers around your arm, tugging you to come closer.
“Sleep with me.. please.” His speech was getting even more garbled, alcohol and fatigue mixing and making him almost unintelligible.
You let out a quiet, annoyed sigh and slipped into the bed beside the man.
“You probably have me mistaken for someone else anyways. Plus you’re drunk, so you’re saying things you don’t even mean.” You mumbled in frustration.
“I know I have you, Y/N.” He retorted. “Isn’t there a saying … drunk man's words are sober man's thoughts.. ?” He trailed off, his breathing slowing and eventually leading into soft, quiet snores. Passed out. His arm snaked around your waist and trapped you against his warm, lean body, locking you in for the night.

The sun shining through your window and the raucous bird song of the early morning had roused you. Kaeya had somehow managed to detangle himself and slip away unseen and unheard, much to your disappointment. You had been looking forward to confronting him on what the fuck the previous night was, but you’re sure you’d get another opportunity.
Was last night even real? Was it a hallucination? What the fuck was he even talking about? It’s not like he made any effort to get to know you outside of learning what irritated you, how to push your buttons. You shook your head, sitting up in bed and peering over at the night stand where the glass of water was now empty, and there was a hastily scribbled note pinned under it.
Y/N,
I apologize for my behavior last night. Let’s do our best to forget about it.
Kaeya
Your brows knit together in a mix of frustration and confusion. You couldn’t help but crush part of the note in your balled up fist, deciding to go straight to the Knight’s Quarters and confront him yourself now that you were sure it wasn’t something you’d conjured up in a dream. You stood up rigidly and moved towards your wardrobe to pull out a change of clothes, rushing out the door without even bothering to smooth down your light summer dress.
You stormed your way up the streets in the direction of the Knights of Favonius headquarters, Kaeya’s note balled in your fist. You strode your way up the steps, slammed open the large door and headed towards Kaeya’s office. You gave the knob an experimental jiggle to find it unlocked, pushing your way into the room to see the man hunched over his desk, head in his hands and fingers interlaced between locks of his hair.
You felt a slight pang of pity well up in your chest. He was very obviously badly hungover and probably got chewed out by Jean for it, but you knew you had to be firm with him. You walked up to his desk and slammed the paper down on the top of it.
“So you just want to ignore what happened last night?” You demanded, placing your hands on your hips and raising an eyebrow as you looked down at him. He didn’t even bother to look at you, keeping his gaze on his desk.
“I don’t even know what you’re talking about.” He replied smoothly, his annoyance plain in his tone towards you.
“No? About how you ‘like me’? You’re mad because I pay more attention to Diluc? Me? You know you’re like, the number one choice for many women in the city - you could have your pick. But you choose to get jealous of Diluc because I choose to talk to him? Did it ever occur to you that Diluc is nice to me? And your version of.. Flirting.. Or whatever the fuck you’re trying to do is to constantly be a thorn in my side? And to finally just snap and get black out drunk and then choose to confess to me? That’s pathetic, Kaeya, you-”
“Just leave.” He said plainly, finally raising his head to rest his gaze upon you. He leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms over his chest.
“That’s funny, you begged me to stay with you last night.” You snapped back at him.
“Will you lower your voice? Leave.” The man hissed in return.
“You’re just lonely, and I was your target for the night.” Straight for the heart. You had run out of patience with the captain, so you were letting venom fly.
“Lonely? How can I be lonely with you in my face? Like you said, I can have my pick if I so chose!” He stood up abruptly from his chair, slamming his palms down on the desk and glaring down at you.
“Then do so.” You picked the note up, crumpled it into a ball and threw it with force at Kaeya. You turned on your heel to storm out of the room, not even checking to see if it had hit where you were aiming.
You bumped into Jean as soon as you’d stepped across the threshold into the hall. “Apologies, Grandmaster.” You mumbled, excusing yourself and racing out of the Knights Headquarters, onto the cobblestone and aiming to venture all the way out of the city - down the path to Dawn Winery. Diluc would lend an ear for sure.

“He’s never been what I would call reliable.” Diluc mentioned in between your long-winded rant about his adopted brother. You stood in his office, fingers twisting the fabric of your dress while the maids bustled around on the other side of the door - one or two of them lingering just a few seconds to see if they could pick up on any gossip. “He’s also incorrigible. It doesn’t come as a surprise to me that he can’t express his feelings.” The red-haired man said plainly, ruby irises settling on your form and appraising you. “It does, admittedly, delight me that he’s jealous of me though.” A smirk played on his face.
“Yeah, well, if he catches wind that I went straight to you after our fight, prepare to be even more delighted.” You sighed, sitting in one of the chairs across from his desk and slumping in it dejectedly. You rested your head in your palm, chewing the inside of your cheek while you thought to yourself.
“Do you have feelings for me, Y/N?” Diluc queried suddenly, causing your face to heat up and you to shift uncomfortably in your seat. “I mean, outside of the acquaintance we have.” He sat back in his chair and steepled his fingers together, resting one leg over the other in a recumbent pose.
Diluc was arguably more desired in the city than Kaeya. He was incredibly wealthy, generally kind and tended to keep to himself. There was allure there, definitely, but you didn’t want to be lumped in with the rest. Not like Donna at the flower shop, constantly lamenting her love for the wine tycoon in the open.
You swallowed hard, realizing the minute between the question and your answer had become quite lengthy.
“I don’t know.” You replied. “I think every girl in Mondstadt does.”
“You’re not every girl, Y/N.” He interjected. “We’ve been friends for some time. You’ve grown closer to me than most.” Another few long moments passed, and he took the signal to continue. “Regardless of how you answer, I don’t think we’re compatible in the long term. Don’t get me wrong, you’re a fantastic woman, but I have my own problems to sort, and I think Kaeya needs you.. Whether or not he admits it to himself or you. He’s troubled and lonely at his core. I don’t think he knows how to get close to people, given his track record of antagonizing others, and you.”
You breathed out a sigh of relief, though it was mixed with a bit of disappointment.
“And I know you have feelings for him, under the annoyance at his school-boy tendencies.” Diluc smirked knowingly. “I can’t tell you how to get him to be straightforward with you. You’ll have to tease that out of him yourself.”
You nodded your head affirmatively. “I’ll figure something out. I have other stuff to do today though, perhaps I’ll stop by Angel’s Share again tonight and see if he’s there.. Maybe I can talk to him directly.” You mused. “A few drinks in, not completely smashed like last night.”
“Better get there early, then.” Diluc warned.
You nodded again, standing up from the chair and bidding him farewell. You opened the door out of his office only to see three maids lingering by the frame, surely gathering gossip for the rest of the city.
“Ladies..” You greeted politely, nodding your head towards them before striding towards the exit of the winery, heading back into the city to complete some daily shopping and chores.

The day had gotten away from you before you’d even realized. The sun was setting, and like Diluc said, if you wanted to catch Kaeya before he was blacked out you’d need to get to Angel’s Share immediately. You gave yourself a quick once over in the mirror, smoothing out the wrinkles of your dress before racing out the door and heading towards the tavern.
Pushing open the door, you peered around the bustling room. The sound of people chatting to each other was drowned out as you focused on singling out the blue-haired cavalry captain. To your surprise, he wasn’t in the immediate vicinity. You headed up the stairs to the second floor, finding him and a bottle of dandelion wine alone at a table. You were in luck, it seemed. He wasn’t face down on the table yet - but he was close. His head was in his palm, eye cast downward at a coin of mora he was spinning on edge. His hair was even untied, long turquoise locks cascading over his broad shoulders.
You didn’t say anything, instead choosing to walk up and take the seat across from him. You took the bottle of dandelion wine and lifted the rim to your lips, taking a quick gulp - half to get his attention, and half for courage. Your face twisted at the bitter taste, but you quickly corrected it as Kaeya took a moment to briefly look up to you.
“You went to Dawn Winery.” He said matter-of-factly.
“I did.” You replied.
“You have feelings for Diluc.”
“I don’t.”
This gave him pause, a crystal blue iris shooting up to meet your gaze and regard you with suspicion. You shifted in your chair slightly, opening your mouth to speak.
“I want you to be honest with me and tell me what you actually feel for me. I can never get a read on you, Kaeya. It’s common knowledge that you lie a lot.” You said quietly, pinning him with your own gaze.
“I’m aware of my reputation.” He muttered, looking back down at the coin he had been spinning and palming it, juggling it in the empty spaces between his fingers as it crossed the span of his knuckles in a show of sleight of hand.
“Is that all you have to say?” You asked, your brow raising incredulously.
He gave his head a single nod.
“Alright. I’m not playing this game anymore. I did feel something for you, Kaeya, but you’re a coward. I didn’t know they allowed Knights to be so spineless.” You hissed at him, standing up abruptly - too abruptly, your vision swimming for a few seconds. The dandelion wine was stronger than you’d imagined, but then again, you’d had quite a hefty sip and weren’t a regular drinker. You shook it off, turning stiffly and walking out of the tavern. You didn’t know what to do at this point. You really didn’t want to go home just yet, but you needed to put distance between yourself and Kaeya before you changed your mind and slapped him across the face for being such a moron. You turned down the street, heading up towards the Cathedral, only to stop just outside the walls and sit down on one of the benches, slumping in on yourself in frustration while you listened to the sounds of the night.
You stewed in your anger. How could he be like this? He’s such a child, unable to express his feelings to you. Not only that, but he could only express them in school-boy ways, like a boy might pull the hair of a girl he secretly has a crush on - which was dumb anyways.
It wasn’t long before you heard quiet footsteps padding on the cobblestone in your direction. You didn’t bother looking up, Mondstadt was generally safe at night- at least for things on foot. Abyss Mages had been known to pop up, but they were never walking.
The footsteps got closer, and eventually a body sat next to you on the bench. A pregnant minute passed before you glanced over to see the blue-haired captain perched beside you, his gaze down turned and focused on his lap. You stared at him for a few long moments before he finally turned to look at you as well.
You opened your mouth to yell at him, but before you could utter a word you were silenced by his lips pressing against yours. You were too stunned to react, giving him the few seconds he needed to place his hands on either side of your face and pull you in deeper. After a few brief seconds of shock you came to your senses and melted into him, your hands raising to grasp at the collar of his shirt and pull him closer. You felt his tongue push between your lips, rubbing against your own in a show of sensuality. Your breathing hitched in your throat, skin flushing as your heart raced. You’d almost forgotten you were in public, until some rowdy tavern-goers started yelling in yours and Kaeya’s direction.
“Come.” He whispered after he’d pulled away, his chilly fingers encircling your wrist to pull you in the direction of the Knights Headquarters.
“Your quarters? Really?” You questioned, but didn’t make a move to pull away, instead stepping alongside him excitedly. He didn’t reply, only gave your arm a slight tug as if to pull you in faster. It wasn’t long before you were stepping stealthily through the large doors of the castle and he was pulling you up the stairs.
He pushed open the door and promptly slammed it behind him, shrugging his waistcoat off and letting it fall to the floor as he began his descent on you.
“Take your clothes off.” He commanded, stepping forward as he continued stripping off his own clothes. You made no move to, though; instead taking steps back with a defiant look on your face, until you felt his bed hit the backs of your legs. “Tch, so you’re going to be a brat about this?”
“For how hard you make me work to get to this point, I’d say it’s justified.” You snapped back, a smirk tugging at your lips.
A look of deviance appeared on his features. He finished shrugging out of his shirt and undoing his belt just before approached you, fingers wrapping around your neck, his thumb resting against the bottom part of your chin so he could force you to look up at him. His tousled, deep cerulean hair framed his face and fell over his strong shoulders in an insanely attractive way, his crystalline blue eye glinting with the moonshaft that fell through the window.
“You’re going to regret disobeying me.” He said softly, his lips barely ghosting over your own as he spoke. His other hand made its way around your back and skillfully found the fasteners on your dress. He undid them in what seemed like a flash, the fabric falling to the floor and leaving you completely exposed to him. You let out a soft whimper as you felt his icy fingers skate over your flesh, his palm laying flatly against the middle of your chest so he could knock you onto the blankets with a harsh push.
You landed on the soft bed with a quiet ‘oof’, Kaeya soon covering your body with his own while littering soft kisses against your chest. You couldn’t help but let a quiet moan slip out, only spurring him on further. His hand shifted, skating up your soft skin until you felt him cup your supple chest, palming and kneading the flesh while his hip started grinding into yours.
“Do you want this?” He asked breathily, in between soft kisses that were slowly working their way down your body. You met his gaze as he looked up at you, his lips working their way down your torso until he’d begun pressing soft, quick pecks against your lower belly, resting just above your panties.
“Yes.” You replied, suddenly realizing how out of breath you’d become. He gave a simple nod of his head before hooking his slender digits into your panties and yanking them down. He wasted no time in spreading your thighs and latching onto your already swollen bud. He sucked down on it firmly, causing your back to arch and your breath to hitch in your throat. You let out a louder-than-expected moan and swiftly slapped your hand over your mouth, remembering you were in the Knights Quarters, and the other Knights were mere doors down the hallway. You could feel him smirk against your skin, pulling away only to attack once again; his tongue laving against your throbbing cunt in a way that made your hips twitch forward.
“Already falling apart for me?” He teased, massaging his tongue against your hyper-sensitive clit. You could feel your climax ramping up, the pressure getting more and more tense due to his ministrations.
“Pl-please,” You begged, fingers entangling in his dark cerulean hair. Your hips twitched forward, unable to control the urge. “Kaeya, I’m gonna-”
“Go ahead,” He whispered against your vulva, “Come for me.” He clamped back down on your clit and sucked hard once more, his tongue flicking against the erect bud ravenously. Your lips parted as you keened, the tension building inside you finally snapping in an explosion of ecstasy. You’d become dizzy with lust, you hadn’t even noticed him pulling away to unfasten the belt that hung around his hips. His pants fell to the ground with a clang! You blinked your eyes rapidly to get them to focus on the sight in front of you: Kaeya’s tall, muscular, naked body in the moonlight; his painfully hard cock wrapped in his hand as he pumped it while looking down at your already fucked-out form.
“You’re so cute like that.” He whispered with a smirk, leaning over your body once more. His fingers dug into the fat of your hips as he yanked you down toward the edge of the bed, your hips meeting his roughly; the underside of his cock rubbed against your clit, causing you to jolt and gasp. You wrapped your legs around his hips instinctually, bucking forward in desperation to feel him against you, inside you. Kaeya let out a low chuckle before guiding the tip of his cock against your entrance, giving shallow, experimental thrusts to tease you.
“Kaeya, please.” You whimpered, your entire body feeling hot underneath him. “I need you.”
“I hear you.” He murmured, lowering his head to press soft kisses against your collar bone, trailing up to the soft skin of your neck. Without much warning he finally plunged his full length inside you, emitting a low groan against your skin as he did.
Kaeya set a moderate, intimate pace; clearly enjoying how your body felt when connected with him. Each thrust forced you to feel the drag of his length; the prominent vein that bulged from lower shaft to tip; the way it curved to fit inside you perfectly. He tucked his arms under your knees, lifting your legs over his shoulders so he could push you into a mating press, his thrusts becoming more hurried and feverish. You had your hand clamped over your mouth to prevent yourself from crying out each time the tip of his cock probed the spongey, ultra-sensitive spot in your core.
The captain must have sensed you were close to unraveling in this position, as he unhooked one of his arms to place his thumb over your clit, rapidly rubbing in up and down motions in tandem with his hurried strokes.
“Kaeya, I-” You whisper-shouted.
“I know.” He murmured back, keeping his pace until he saw your face twist, mouth opening to let out a keen. Before you could make a noise he covered your lips with his own, swallowing the loud moan accompanying your climax. His pace began to falter and you could feel him twitch inside you, his hips delivering one; two; three powerful plunges before he bottomed out inside you and groaned into your mouth. His tongue gave your own light caresses as he held you in place for a few moments longer, catching his breath.
He pulled away, still looming on top of you, propping himself up on his elbows to stare down at you. He was beautiful, loosed cerulean hair cascading over his shoulders and tickling your skin where it fell. He kept his gaze leveled at your eyes, looking at you seriously, as if he wanted to say something but may have been too afraid.
“Will you be mine?” You took the initiative so he didn’t have to, sensing his apprehension. In response he leaned down and kissed you once more, softly, intimately.
“I think you know the answer.” He chuckled after pulling back. Seems you’d still have to work away at chipping down his walls.
“What happened to making me regret disobeying you?” You teased, sticking your tongue out at him playfully. In response he pulled his hips away, raised your thighs and delivered a swift swat across your ass.
“Don’t tempt me.”
