Soul Mate
An AU where your soulmate appears to you in a dream. Stiles is seven when he first dreams of Derek. He dreams he’s standing in the middle of the reserve when a boy, maybe a year or two older than him, walks up to him. And every night after that, he dreams of meeting Derek in that spot.
Derek tells Stiles about his family and Stiles tells Derek about his parents and Scott. His parents think Stiles just has an imaginary friend, and start to worry when Stiles insists Derek is real.
When he’s eight, Claudia’s sick, Stiles visits a child psychologist to make sure he’s not sick too, and after his father is called away to investigate a house fire on the outskirts of town, Stiles doesn’t dream of Derek anymore.
He doesn’t see Derek again, not until ten years later when he goes to the hospital to drop off food for Melissa (since Scott’s working) and sees a familiar face. He dismisses it, thinking it was just his brain reaching for a glimpse of his imaginary childhood friend, but his curiosity gets the better of him.
He goes down the hallway to where he had seen Derek and walks into the room of a badly burnt man in a coma. Derek’s nowhere to be seen.
Stiles sheepishly turns to leave when he bumps into someone.
“Stiles?”
He looks up and can’t believe his eyes; he’s staring into the aventurine eyes he knows all too well.
