Rebecca and Jeremy Front present a fun-packed retrospective of Dame Cicely Leyland's life.
grandmas house is the most underrated comedy series ever made it's a masterpiece
A film geek's watching-Telly Time:Why watch Psychobitches?
So hey everyone, since I have my day off-I have discovered this little beauty called Psychobitches thanks to my sister who shared with me,about Michelle Gomez's involvement here.
It gotten better that Mark Gatiss played a great job as Joan Crawford (I am left with stitches on insulting Bettie-blah blah bug eyes, and his makeup is sure terrifying)
Now you must ask me what the hell must I watch that ? (and you too)
It was female run, meaning most of the leads are actresses (and few guys mostly in drag). A plus to the usually dominated male run industry .
If you love horrible histories-this is like a female ran cast of it expect with more bite. They touched on so many famous women, like the Bible The Virgin Mary (Pretty tricky but they manage to keep it cheeky without being offensive) to Audrey Hepburn (I mean they played with her persona as being kooky which is insane).Â
Thick of It/In the Loop fans will recognise Rebecca Front as the deadpan therapist which is simply brilliant!
They have awesome guest stars-Michelle Gomez (She played Mary Queen of Scots) and Matt Baynton (Him as Jesus is the most surprising idea and my sis and I just died)
However I like to point out a little problem I have-Some  of the jokes of the historical figures if they are unfamiliar (Jacquline De Pie is one of them-go and do some research if you are lost),if not done right or the figures which they poked fun gets me an eh reaction (Queen Victoria and Beatrix Potter is pretty questionable) while others are pretty spot-on (GO and watch the Bettie Davis/Joan Crawford segment-this is beautiful piece of comedy-Gatiss is stupidly brilliant). I hope they do clear up for the next season, with more familiar figures.
But hey,go and make an effort to watch this-it is a great way for women to shine in the television industry. It has such great wit and you kinda learn a little more about the women. (I will be happy to pass you the link for season 1 if you need,as it is stupidly hard to find)
British Comedy Awards, channel 4, 12/12/2013, 9pm. Psychobitches (Rebecca Front, Sam Spiro, Sharon Horgan, Julia Davis and more) is up for TWO awards. Competition includes Horrible Histories for Best Sketch Show, and Plebs for Best New Comedy programme.
