Behold! A cover reveal and story details for the first UNIT: Eras boxset, out in April.

1. Rise of the Valiant by Andrew Smith 2008. The Earth has been stolen and planets fill the sky.

With the Doctor otherwise engaged, it falls to UNIT's finest - Colonel Mace, Harry Sullivan, and the retired Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart - to take the fight back to the Daleks. Because deep in the Brazilian rainforest, a secret weapon with a familiar name is waiting. And it's ready to fly.

2. The Indigo Child by Ken Bentley 2017. UNIT has been shut down, its heroes targeted.

After an attempt on her life, Kate Stewart fights from the shadows, doing what she can to protect the people of Great Britain. Reunited with Petronella Osgood, Kate goes undercover to save a child refugee with psychic powers. It's a race against time, and a new enemy is determined to win.

3. The Life and Death of Private Eddie Wise by Hannah Kennedy The dawn of UNIT. Aliens have invaded and Eddie Wise is far from ready. Plagued by nightmares and lying to his fiancé, the beleaguered Eddie becomes embroiled in a plot to bring his workplace to its knees. To make matters worse, there's a journalist on his tail.

Because Sarah Jane Smith needs the scoop on UNIT, and Private Wise might just be the man she needs.

4. Deadstar by Joshua Pruett and Jonathan S Powell 2023. The Toymaker has been vanquished and UNIT stands tall.

But when a cutting-edge telescope is brought online, the UNIT skyscraper is plunged into lockdown. Besieged by an impossible foe, Colonel Ibrahim, Melanie Bush and new recruit Dr Isla Ellis need all their wits to survive. Because the stars have woken up, and something is very wrong with the Vlinx.

Producer Heather Challands said: "UNIT has long been a reliable, exciting and ever-evolving part of the world of Doctor Who. It's one of my favourite parts, showcasing the flaws and triumphs of human nature through iconic characters such as the Brigadier, Osgood, Harry Sullivan and Kate Stewart.

"I was thrilled by the opportunity to delve deeper into times when the TARDIS isn't around and the Doctor's friends simply have to do the best that they can against impossible odds. This new range is an anthology series, with each story standing alone, going from the 1970s right up to the 2020s, to see how much UNIT has changed in its long history.

"Hostile Universe features a close encounter with Daleks during The Stolen Earth, finds the Vlinx feeling a bit frosty, shows the toll UNIT takes on some of its soldiers, and answers the question of how Kate Stewart was spending her time after her house was blown up!"

Script editor Jonathan S Powell said: "I love UNIT, it's one of my favourite bits of Doctor Who - all those classic '70s adventures and the fact that it runs through the whole show from then to the present day. It's quite an exciting prospect to be able to showcase all of that in a single set, UNIT through the ages.

"I’m really proud of UNIT Eras. It's been one of the most difficult jobs that I've had with Big Finish, because each individual episode is a universe all of its own, and you want to do justice to an era, make it sound and feel right, as each will be someone's favourite era of UNIT."

The Spitting Image/The Crown Scale is essentially this:

If a famous historical person from the 20th/21st(ish) century has appeared in BOTH the shows “Spitting Image” (the British satirical puppet sketch show where famous people/public figures like politicians, celebrities, etc are grotesquely exaggerated in puppet form) and “The Crown” (the British historical drama series about the Queen and Co, in which they’re portrayed by, well, sexy and beautiful people lol), then how much does the ACTUAL historical person look like either their funny caricature or serious portrayal.

For this example, I used Former British Prime Minister John Major for the scale.

On the left of the scale, we have Major’s caricature from “Spitting Image”, who is portrayed as a boring grey man who also loves peas (since John Major was/is (to some extent) also thought of to be a boring grey man and who DID love bland food, like peas for example). The SI version of John Major was voiced by Jon Culshaw for some episodes (although he was sometimes voiced by another person).

On the right of the scale, we have Major’s portrayal from “The Crown”, played by Jonny Lee Miller, who’s an important character in season 5 of the show (although he (Major) made a guest appearance in season 4 and was played by a different actor, that being Marc Ozall).

Then sitting perfectly in the middle of the scale, it’s our (actual) man, Johnny Major himself!

I think he’s a perfect mix of the 2, and why i personally think he deserves a spot right on the middle of the scale. He has the silliness of his SI caricature in terms of his mannerisms and voice and such, but also has the handsomeness and shyness(?) of his JLM portrayal.

Idk if that makes sense at all lol, but to me it does haha.

Anyway, this was made for fun and isn’t meant to be taken 100% seriously lol. If you want to have a go at it yourself, do so!
