2014 APIASF Higher Education Summit Recap
By Samson Lim, APIASF/GMS Scholar
In each of the past few years, I have received an email inviting me to attend the APIASF Higher Education Summit, and I have always been extremely excited about the possibility of attending but then disappointed that I have never been able to attend, for one reason or another. This year, though, through serendipitous happenstance, I was able to attend the fifth annual Summit — and I am so glad I did!
When I first developed an interest in issues of educational equity as an undergraduate student, I was a volunteer mentor with the University of Washington Dream Project. In the years since, I have delved deeper into issues related to postsecondary education access and affordability, even getting a master’s in education policy to try and figure out how to close the opportunity gap for those most underserved in our society.
