Sister Nancy Bam Bam: this 1982 dancehall classic has roots going back to the mid 60s. The chorus comes from an old Mayatls tune and the rhythm is one of my all time favorites Stalag 17. This classic was an early song adopted by hip hop dancehalls then cousin and has been sampled by a plethora of golden era artists the first I heard use it was my brethren @xplargepro for the classic Hangin Out. More recently Jay-Z used it for Bam and Kanye West for Famous. I read that Sister Namcy never received any royalty’s for this song and only south legal action in 2014 after it was used sans her permission on a Reebok ad thus she was awarded a performance fee and 50 pct of the songs publishing whcih she could only trace back 10 years prior. Subsequently she has received proper payment on all newer uses of the song. Crazy story right? Apparently this tune has been sampled or incorporated into no less than 94 dongs including Lauryn Hills Lost Ones and Peter Rocks The Basement. Love this tune since I was Youth! #Dancehall #Stalag17 #SaluteSisterNancy #HangingOut #SuperDiscoBreakin’ (at Los Angeles, California)
