#salunga

Another Kaiju Redesign, which is a double redesign of two TOHO Kaiju. I've always seen these related due to Salunga looking like Gabara despite being a new kaiju. Which is why I wanted to redesign them to make them feel related.

This is my design take on both and some context between these two.

"Gabara & Salunga, The Twin Thunder Lords"

"Long before Japan was named, there was two titans that ruled the region with ferocity, that would become Japan years later. Their elemental power of thunder and lightning rivaled even the strongest titans that existed long ago. Their names were Gabara, and Salunga, the lords of thunder".

"In history they were considered deities of thunderous ruin, sundering and striking all who fought them. Which rivaled the many primordial gods that shared the same world, even the ones known as Godzilla, Mothra, Kong, Rodan, and Ghidorah. It was said they would reawaken after the world was decimated during the prehistoric age and would rule once more".

"Millions of years later they would arise, during the Edo period of Japan, where peace and stability prospered in Japan. All feared them as they awoke, bringing Japan asunder leaving thunderous devastation, and conquering Japan as their home once more. However, their arise from slumber awoke the titans as well, which the strongest fought against them, in a fight that would tear the eastern world apart".

"Ultimately they would be defeated, and forever buried beneath the earth, in hopes to never awaken again. In the present time of the world where the titan returns once more, but now to live among the world as one. They would awake as well, leading to a fateful battle once more, between the King of The Monsters and the Lords of Thunder"...

"Gabara and Salunga - Abilities"

Gabara and Salunga are capable of channeling the very environmental and elemental power of thunder and lighting, but differences between them.

Both are able to absorb both electrical and thunderous energy and use it to amplify their strength. Gabara is able to cast it and use it as projectiles, even possibly weapons. Salunga can breathe it, but focuses more on endurance, however he cannot cast lightning like Gabara does.

Both Have similar colors with the differences in their tones. Gabara has brighter and more bluish skin while Salunga is greener and darker.

Salunga is larger than Gabara, and bulkier, while Gabara is slimmer, yet taller.

Their eyes colors are distinct as Gabara has orange red eyes, while Salungas are white.

As a Gabara fan. I LOVE Salunga!

I see SO many mixed opinions on this guy, which is fine, but sometimes it shocks me to see a lot of the dislike is coming from other Gabara enjoyers.

At first I was just saddened by the fact that his name wasn't Gabara. It quickly changed when I watched the series back in 2021. He had my full attention when he was on screen. He's such a little shit. I love him.

I love his design. He's kinda cute.
