just a little update for those that don’t know me on other platforms, my dog has cancer.

The following is copy and pasted from my gf’s Facebook status about it

A little life update while I've been MIA from social media for the last week or two both personal and business:

About six weeks ago I noticed a little growth on Sally on her butt (not backside, butt). She's notoriously mole-y, so we figured it was just a skin tag, mole, or other standard skin growth. She had her annual vet appointment, and they said it seemed fine, but to come back if it got bigger.

Six weeks later, it had doubled in size and a new growth was on her anus (sorry for the TMI). I immediately took her back to the vet, where they biopsied the big one and determined it was a Cutaneous Mast Cell Tumor. This is the most common form of cancer in dogs, especially boxers and boston terriers. It's a non-metastatic skin cancer.

The next morning (Wednesday), we dropped her off for emergency surgery to remove the growths. After removing the large one with wide margins, the vet believes he got all of the grade 2 tumor and said we caught it early so there's no reason to believe it spread - and if it had, we would feel it on her skin.

The second growth wasn't a tumor at all, just Sally being a dermatological enigma.

While she won't need chemotherapy, and she doesn't currently have any tumors, cancer is a disease she will have for the rest of her life. While they're not metastatic, they are incredibly regenerative, and there is no doubt that she will have more in the future. We will just be aware and take her to have them removed each time.

My little senior citizen is my child, and this past week has been stressful and taxing. But I'm so happy and grateful that we have more time with her, whether that's a day, a month, or a year.
