I love the 80s DuckTales so much because I grew up with them, but I also love the 2017 series. What I love most about 2017 is how many characters from different side projects were added in there, and I saw a lot of fan designs of Mickey in this style, and unfortunately I didn’t find a design that I really liked. So during a break from Ninjago animatics, I made this charismatic mouse. Drawing in this style was surprisingly very easy! I used the “young Donald Duck” comics and, of course, Topolino as a basis for the design. Not many people know, but Mickey has a profession in many comics, he is a solver, and I thought it fits perfectly with DuckTales.

what's his relationship like with the rest of the cast (or at least the people he interacts with)? does he have any positive relationships with anyone in the cast?

also, if your mortimer has any quirks or if you have any headcanons for him I'd love to know! X)

Thank you so much for asking! Mortimer is actually really fun to draw. It's even more fun coming up with his hedocanons because he's quite charismatic and really fits the "promising entrepreneur" image I created for him :)

For some reason, I really liked seeing him as a collector of designer shoes. I think for the comic effect, it would be cool if he wore different shoes in each scene where he appeared. I wanted to call him "Mortimer Rat," but for some reason I decided to keep the original "Mouse."

In my head, just as Scrooge dislikes mice in this au, Mortimer dislikes ducks just as much. Mortimer's goal is to unseat McDuck as the richest duck in the world; he sees huge potential in entertainment. Essentially, everything Disney does here is done by Mortimer. Plus, I'd like to give him some kind of special magical artifact that would help him bypass any obstacles in his path, but so far I haven't found anything suitable in Mickey Mouse comics, etc., from which I draw inspiration. But I'll add to this in the future, because Mickey has his magic suitcase

I like how Oswald turned out because I was probably thinking about how to make him harmonious, but the combination of gray and blue gives him an old movie vibe, and that aesthetic really suits him. And I think I've already shown Mickey without his detective cape before. I'm currently working on a game for my thesis and fulfilling two large commissions, but after that I plan to take a vacation until spring, so I hope there will be more art like this.

I started drawing this art back in August, but had to put it on hold due to work, so I'm glad I didn't give up

1. Mickey was friends with Della too? What was the relationship between Mickey and the Duck twins?

2. Donald tries to avoid Mickey, but what about Mickey? Does he try to somehow improve his relationship with his friend?

To be honest, I haven't really tried to create a visual image of Felicity yet. I have a clear picture in my head of what role she plays in the AU and in the characters' lives, but since she doesn't have any significant independent arc, I haven't tried to draw it yet. In my head, she's something like a girl with Y2K fashion. I can also say that since Oswald is her stepbrother, they have a slightly strained relationship, but that doesn't mean they outright hate each other, more likely they just complained about each other a lot in childhood and all that. Oswald will definitely invite her to his wedding with Ortensia, and she would say something like, "I'm glad at least someone could love you even though you're a nerd."
