@skyspireclan have a big dork
Jebel sat back in his chair, frowning down at his parchment. âSakkhet?â he called. The archivist glanced up from her own writing, eyebrows raised. âHow do you spell âconversationalistâ?â
She blinked, then spelled it out, waiting as he copied it down. âWhat exactly are you writing, there?â she asked, peering over her glasses as if she could read it from her desk across the room.
Jebel took a moment to blow on the ink before carefully folding the note, taking his sweet time about it. âA note,â he said shortly, not meeting her eyes.
âA note?â she repeated, incredulous. âTo whom? Doesnât everyone you know live here?â
âEveryone Iâd want to speak to,â he muttered. And then, still under his breath, âItâs to Finch.â
Sakkhet laughed. âThat boy from the Sky Spire Clan? Isnât he some sort of nobility? Not that heâs above you or anything like that,â she hurried to add. âI just didnât thinkâŚâ
âNeither did I,â Jebel said, shaking his head. âHe started it, asking about things to do around the city. What was I to do, ignore him?â
âHe asked you?â Sakkhet said, amused again. âIâve never seen you anywhere but your room, a build site, or here.â
âThatâs because youâre never anywhere but here,â Jebel said, deadpan. âAnd I doubt he knows anyone else here. Who was he going to ask, Romar?â
âOh, hush,â Sakkhet said, then brightened. âDid you tell him to come here? That was him, yesterday, wasnât it - with all the piercings? Heâs quite handsome, isnât he?â she said slyly.
âYes,â Jebel said, then flushed. âI mean, yes, I told him to come here.â
âHmm,â Sakkhet said, resting her chin in her hands and smiling archly at him. âInteresting.â
âI think I had better get this to Finch,â Jebel said, grabbing his note and making for the door.
âYes, I think you had better do that,â Sakkhet said, grinning.
