For the Sake of the Arts || Elysia & Eric
The final bell rang, and almost simultaneously the students shot up nearly stepping over one another as they shuffled out the tiny doorway. If I didn't know better I'd think they were psychic. Sighing as she leaned further into her chair, and rub her front temples. Freshman classes were the worst, she could name maybe 5 that actually cared about the class but only three that put an honest effort in her assignments. Shutting her eyes; sore from slides she had put together to show her classes. Although she had ulterior motives she had hope the kids would have reacted a little more to the list of pieces she personally found inspiring.
But still Elysia would not let that bring her down, if Eric could appreciate the written, the visual wouldn't be too hard to like as well. and if worse comes to worse and he hates it, well at least it's a reaction.
A small giggle escaped her lips as she rose once all the noise in the hallways quieted down, with ease she tidied the papers on her desk as well she could. Making sure to keep a pile of printed art aside and visible so she would not forget them. Once she was confident the classroom was in a clean state she slipped off her paint ridden apron and hung it on a hook next to the doodled ridden blackboard. Smiling at the grafitti-ed surface, she proceeded to her desk and stuffed the pile papers inside her messenger bag. Touring her classroom one last time, satisfied that it wasn't a complete mess she flicked the lights out and proceeded to her afternoon meeting.
The streets were littered with high school kids travelling in packs to their usual haunts, nodding her head towards the students she recognized. She could see how uncomfortable she made them feel, when they met outside of school. Elysia took pleasure in it, it was amusing to see them squirm especially when they were with their parents.
Finally her destination appeared and a grin spread across her face, pushing the door in a familiar little bell rang alerting the clerk of a customer's arrival.
"Eric...? I hope I'm not to early." Elysia said trailing off as her eyes began to scan the spines of the piled books. It was a sweet shop, filled to the brim with various paperbacks, and gold leafed books. She imagined Eric's own home looking dangerously similar to his store.
