I've been thinking about these two all morning.
Marcos and Marceliano.
Twin brothers born in Rome in the third century. Their parents were pagan. Their tutor raised them in secret as Christians without anyone knowing. They grew up carrying something inside that the world around them couldn't see.
They were forced into marriages with pagan women. They didn't fight it. They just lived so consistently, so quietly true to themselves, that their wives converted. Then their parents. Then the judge who was supposed to execute them. Then half the people in the room.
No speeches. No arguments. Just this immovable thing inside them that nobody could touch.
When they were finally arrested and given 30 days to recant, they used every single one of those days to talk to people in prison about what they believed.
At the end they tied them to pillars and nailed their feet. People came expecting to find them broken.
They were singing.
I think about that a lot. The singing part.

If you're carrying something the people around you don't understand yet, or you're being asked to be smaller than you are - these two are worth talking to today.
Light a candle. White or gold. Tell them what you've been holding quietly.
They've been there.
