i wish i knew not to be such a people pleaser, because i really, really tried. there's still a part of me that tries, but i think that's just who i am - i hate confrontation, hate feeling like i'm making someone uncomfortable.

this may get me some criticism but honestly the biggest fad/trend that i'm over is callout posts. i really, really don't like callout posts. like -- if we have proof of someone being actually predatory and abusive, that's one thing. and i understand that they're designed in the nature of "hey this person has done some shit" as well, but honestly i just am very tired of callout posts.

like -- okay, i'm old. i genuinely find myself not caring nine times out of ten what someone writes in fictionland and i will never tell someone "you can't write [insert subject]" because it ain't my place to tell anyone what they can or cannot write. i've been on the internet since i was like ... 12 and i'm in my 30s now. i've seen some shit. i remember the adages of the early 00s internet and i still follow many of those precepts because they've always served me very well for my time. i'm a firm believer of "if you don't like seeing something someone writes, unfollow them or blacklist the tags associated with subject [x]" as well. like, literally, i do not care by and large. is there shit that gets under my skin? yeah, there is. but you know what i do? i blacklist a tag. or i unfollow. like i'm genuinely very unbothered by a lot of things that people consider 'taboo' in terms of roleplay or not socially acceptable or whathaveyou because i can distinguish fiction from reality. can reality influence fiction and vice versa?

of course it can. just look at what jaws did to devastate the shark population. but you also have to remember a lot of people are morons. i can promise you, though, that someone who reads murder mysteries or something else is not having thoughts of "oh i'm going to become a serial killer" and if they are having those kinds of thoughts, then they need to seek out professional help. that's not the murder mysteries doing that. that's a sign that something else is going on there. but generally, by and large, people who read and write some topics are not exactly seeking to say that they want to see this shit happen in real life. there's a lot of shit i love in fiction that horrifies me when it happens in real life. hell, i'm what the kids call a proshipper and i enjoy some really wild ships in fiction that just would alarm the hell out of me if i encountered them in real life. it's that simple.

but i genuinely am very tired of callouts being used to justify drama between two people; when more than three people speak about a specific individual? yeah, i'll listen. yet i've also seen some callouts get refuted because the people making the callout get exposed as trying to spin things in their favor so i always take any callouts that i see with a massive grain of salt because all i'm seeing is one specific viewpoint for what happened.

i'm also really fucking tired of the fact that so many people don't give someone who's fucked up in the past a second chance. tumblr's drama and callout culture can be mighty damn toxic. do i care about what someone writes? no, not really. if you're an adult, then write what you want. ship what you want. it's your blog, not mine, so it's none of my goddamn business. if i don't like something, i can blacklist it or i can unfollow you. i don't have any reason to think otherwise or do something else unless you give me a really good reason to believe that you are not a safe person. do i think that people who are abusive and toxic should be warned about? yes, of course i do. but i feel like callout culture's really become a thing and i am just sick and tired of it.
