Today, folks, we are thinking about that line in âThe Puppetmasterâ when Toph says âMaybe the moon spirit just went bad,â because this means that no one told Toph what happened in the North Pole. I mean, itâs not like she would have noticed when the moon disappeared, and even if she was told when it happened, she would have to assume that her new friends were involved with the moonâs brief disappearance. Even taking into account the fact that it isnât too far a jump to make that the Avatar was involved, Toph very rarely asked about her friendsâ adventures before she joined them, figuring that sheâd find things out if they were necessary.
My point is, though, that Aang and Katara arenât talking about it, because they donât want to upset Sokka, and probably because it was a traumatizing experience for both of them, too. And, as we know, Sokka bottles up all of his emotions and doesnât want to bother anyone with his problems, especially internal ones. But since Toph doesnât even know about Yue, Sokka must not have even mentioned her for months, except when he was talking to Suki that one time. This is, like, a hugely major thing that happened to him, and he just isnât talking about it, probably because he doesnât want to burden his friends with it, and also because he doesnât want to confront the memory.
Iâm just... emotional for him. Poor kid. Needs some support. Hopefully heâs able to talk to Katara privately about it eventually, but Iâm guessing he didnât even do that, knowing how he bottles everything up so tightly.
