Sadanoumi showing some gumption today improving his record to 4-4, don’t want to be fighting for 8 wins from a 3-5 hole. He gets an interesting double-overhand grip on the very front of Shodai’s mawashi, and uses it to bull Shodai all the way to the tawara. But Shodai gets a deep underhand grip on the left side, breaking Sadanoumi’s hold and spinning him around, where Sadanoumi does a marvelous job of grabbing Shodai’s head with his right hand and using his left-hand grip to continue the momentum until he’s back in a dominant position. Sadanoumi re-secures the close double-overhand grip and pushes Shodai to the edge once again, where once again Shodai tries to reverse. This time Shodai’s heels are planted on the tawara and his only chance is utchari (backward pivot throw), but as Sadanoumi goes airborne, he uses his last contact with the ground to push with his left leg and drive Shodai into the dirt a split second before he lands upside down outside the ring. Good stuff. Yoritaoshi (front crush out) is the official winning technique.

Don't blink. Aminishiki sidesteps at the tachiai, letting poor Sadanoumi cruise on by. A hand on the belt to help him on his way makes the official winning technique uwatedashinage, or pulling overarm throw. It's not a cheap trick, though - watch how Aminishiki gets right up in Sadanoumi's face at the tachiai, reaching his left arm all the way around for the deep belt grip. His other hand goes on the back of Sadanoumi's head to keep him off-balance and usher him out. Not exactly something to be proud of, but not as bad as jumping out of the way.
