This is the process of a simple concept I did a long time ago of a character I played in my first trpg session: MML (Metal, Magic and Lore).
Her name is Katrina and she's a ranger from a small northern town. She often goes on adventures as people rely on her to scout the surrounding area and bring news of the world.
After one of these adventures, trying to enter the town gates - as she usually does - a guard blocks her passage and ends up shooting her with his crossbow right across her face.
Yeah, you can tell I rolled very poorly and my character almost died.
MML is a very ruthless system (which is something I really enjoy), 2 out of 3 sessions my character almost died. Another "funny" thing about MML is that when there's a successful attack, you - or in this case, the DM - has to roll the dice to know in which part of the body the attack landed. Somehow it landed on her face... She was unconscious for a few weeks but got a kickass scar on her cheek and unlimited beers from the guard who confused her with the enemy.
The best part about TRPGs is the stories that come from "being" another person in another universe. Even with pre-made characters and a set goal, there's still a lot of room to explore and to understand the characters as they evolve and interact with the world.
