3. What was the first thing you decided on, the character's name, appearance, personality or their role in the story?

For most of my oc's, I always start with a song. I listen to a song that inspires me, and then I idly work on their appearance. It was the same for Sable! I started with a song, and then drew their appearance whilst mulling over the song's lyrics. (The song in question is called Bottom Of The Deep Blue Sea by MISSIO as well as Kill The Light by Lacuna Coil).

I actually really struggled with Sable's appearance whilst drawing them. I wanted them to be looming and intimidating in size, but I wanted their face itself to actually be sort of cute. I wanted some contrast with between their demeanor and looks. I think I struggled super hard at the time with them because I was also still finishing my commission, then.

Their personality came easily to me, as I knew what I wanted to do from the very start with them. I wanted a character who was not inherently good, nor tried to be. However, I don't think all non-good characters necessarily have to be cruel. 20. share any additional thoughts, art, favourite scenes, anything you've been waiting for a chance to ramble about

I haven't been doodling much recently due to some art block! However, I think something that is interesting about Sable is that they witnessed the fall of Eden! They were there for it. They likely would have participated in the spreading of darkness alongside other dark dragons if it wasn't for their best friend (a light dragon). They saw how destructive darkness could be, and ended up sleeping deep beneath the Treasure Reef until skykids started fussing with it years later and woke them up. If we thought about oc's as being on a timeline, then I would say Sable just woke up after a few hundred year long slumber!
