How about something... Sabedge? ;) A ficlet, anything you like, but if you need inspiration how about a romantic reunion on the tarmac after they've both returned from dangerous missions. Maybe it's raining?? <3
I hope this befits our beloved favorite Mandalorian and Corellian Rebels, @luminousthings <3
Sabine fiddled with her vambraces, then got up to peer out of the hangar into the wet night one more time. Visibility was poor–almost as poor as Sabine’s patience.
They’d left Yavin IV in the aftermath of the Death Star in such a hurry that she hadn’t the time to think, other than helping in any way she could to load equipment and supplies onto the Ghost as quickly as possible.
They were now grounded on yet another tropical planet, thanks to the torrential downpours and lightning strikes of the rainy season, and Sabine had plenty of time to think–and worry.
She knew Wedge had taken a hit in the battle above Yavin, leaving Luke Skywalker to take the shot that saved the Rebellion.
Sabine hadn’t met him yet; the fleet had rendezvoused only briefly before the newly re-formed Rogue Squadron had set out for an attack on an Imperial base before the surviving fleets could regroup.
She and Zeb had stockpiled ammunition; she and Chopper played dejarik; she painted Hera’s new quarters.
No one had predicted that they’d be stuck in the rain for so long. High Command was actively searching for a new base to call home.
“Maybe the next one won’t be tropical,” Sabine muttered. Chopper booped affirmatively. “Hoth? Never heard of it. It must be very far from the Core,” she replied.
Sabine began stalking back to begin painting her own quarters, even though they wouldn’t be hers for long, when Chopper started squawking excitedly.
“Fighters! Incoming!” one of the deck officers called, and Sabine finally breathed a sigh of relief.
There was a race from everyone who had been grounded on base to cheer and hug their comrades, and the crowd surrounding young Luke Skywalker was enormous. It was not him that Sabine sought, however; she would introduce herself at another time.
She finally smiled upon seeing a certain dark haired Corellian jump down from his fighter, shaking his head at the crowd around poor Luke.
He didn’t notice the purple haired Mandalorian warrior who practically tackled him as she hugged him, tracing his cheek with her finger.
The cheering in the hangar, along with the roaring engines and beeping droids, grew so loud that they could barely hear each other.
Sabine pulled Wedge out into the downpour, and kissed him thoroughly.
They were both soaked through in a minute, but neither particularly cared.
