Fuck the Darkling, he has no interest in actually helping make the lives of Grisha better, so they aren't persecuted. He has been around and in power for at least a few hundred years (maybe a hundred idk) but instead of using that time to help reduce the stigma around Grisha and make them more accepted into Ravka, he forced children to become his soldiers (to the point that some even FLEE THE COUNTRY THROUGH THE FOLD to escape having to fight and die for him against their will) and created the Fold. Like he had at least a century to make the lives of Grisha better but instead, he did nothing but create the Fold and gain more power for himself. In what way is he "against the status quo" when he, as the most powerful Grisha (for at least 100 YEARS), has done NOTHING to make the Grisha less persecuted, judged and isolated from the rest of Ravka. This man even killed tons of fellow Grisha because they turned on him, how is that in any way making the Grisha want to come to him for help instead of just making them run from him in fear?

But seriously, about Lilith: she LOVED. HARD. Both her family and her lover, unconditionally and with no regard paid to mortality, ethics or dogmas. That takes iron guts, especially if you're going against your own creator?
