My completed reylo fic “A Proper Education” originally had a much darker ending. I liked that conclusion a lot, but it didn’t feel quite right for Education, so I cut it and went with the current, more bittersweet version. But “sentimentality” appears in that original ending, so here’s a little sneak peek at that scene:

She wishes he’d stayed with her. That things didn’t have to end like this.

“Rey,” he says—and how can he possibly draw a smile to his beautiful mouth in a moment like this? “I’ve missed you.”

She missed him too, but Rey will not let sentimentality stand in the way of what must be done. This man taught her too well for her make the same mistake twice.

I’m going to fudge this and say “sentiment” is close enough. More Stucky from Becoming:

He pulls away, breaking the contact, running from the deeper emotion that always lies just beneath the surface with Steve. He knows the word for it, tastes its sweet sentiment on the back of his tongue, a promise ready to be confessed if Bucky could just work up the courage.
