So the next stage of SA will involve cap summaries based on how much Dean’s in a particular thing, and I never noticed how little Al was in some QL episodes? Like, I definitely knew he wasn’t around much in a few, but it was more than I expected. I have him for the max for most episodes, since he’s listed as a co-lead, but there are a few episodes that don’t really use him much. So far:

I’ve been rewriting/editing the translated German summaries for my blog, and I don’t know if it’s the language or what, but they can be hilariously overwritten. Like this:

“The birthday of Tony's daughter Mickey is approaching. But the eleven year old is not excited about it. The hypochondriac Mickey fears that her youthful élan is now dwindling. Besides, she feels sick. For her birthday she wishes her father a complete medical examination. Gritting his teeth, Tony agrees. As expected, the pediatrician can not detect any illnesses, Mickey distrusts the physician. She insists on a computed tomography. In order to fulfill his daughter's unusual wish, Tony has to bribe the chief physician of a clinic with baseball cards.”

Focusing more on Al caps for Quantum Leap makes me realize how some episodes have him in only a few scenes, but others way more. I expect about... 50-75 caps per episode for Al? But Another Mother has about 100 x_x

Some thoughts:

If you have to watch Dean in anything Western, any of his Wagon Train episodes or his Bonanza episode are the best bets. Everything else (Cimarron City, Outlaws, Gun for a Coward, even the Bonanza: The Return movie) is okay-to-bad.

I love getting to clear off anything “tentative” from the graveyard list :D

#sa meta #i'm compiling a list of recs as I go #i'm trying to think of both things that had a huge impact and things that have good performances #like i don't remember if i discussed this before #but it surprised me when i saw tons of mentions of him in the green years not so much anchors aweigh in newspapers #because the green years is what made Dean famous when he was little #so that's on the highly recommended list for example
