The order that the paint/blood goes onto Echo’s face seems to be reversed, however. In S4x13, Echo paints her face, Bellamy walks in, and they talk. In S7x07, it looks like Octavia and Echo talk, then Echo scarifies her face and draws nightblood.Â
If I’m right, I’m looking forward to seeing what this symbolism could portend for Echo’s journey. In S4x13, Bellamy persuades Echo to join spacekru by the end of their talk. In S7x07, Echo applying the blood after her talk with Octavia may signify her departure from spacekru to re-embrace to her Grounder/Azgeda traditions. Speculating even further, as a former Azgeda general and a nightblood she has the cred and fighting/tactical/leadership skills to challenge Russheida for Wonkru’s loyalty.
