TWD is trying to capitalize on their colossally terrible decision about the S6 finale...by doing the self-deprecating humor thing. “Oh, it wasn’t that bad. ha. ha. Isn’t that a funny meme?”

No.

It wasn’t funny. Not then, when you did it. Not now, when I still know that you did it.

It was a bad choice. And you defended it. And you said fans should appreciate it. And you said that you don’t listen to fans because that would compromise the story. And then when it turned out that your choices compromised the story it was suddenly people not having enough loyalty to be true fans.

I am a solid contributor to the TWD fandom. I have created edits, gifs, meta, and fanfiction to explore and support our shared passion. They may not be the best, for sure, but I try. I defend the rights of our fan creators. I offer tips on tumblr technology. I reblog the lovely and intelligent posts of others who share my interests.  

But.

Though there does seem to be emerging a kind of consensus between some of the active voices on the #caryl and #carol peletier tags, there are quite a few of us who love both just as much but who are not in consensus. I don’t feel the same way as many people. Not all of us feel the same way about any of the writing, characterization, story arcs, EPs, actors, etc.

I, personally, LIKE the writing for season 6.  I LIKE Carol as she is, handling things as she is, moving through her story as she is. I LIKE what is happening on my screen with Carol and Morgan. I LIKE that Morgan is caring enough about Carol to recognize that she is struggling. I noticed - and value - that he manages to care about this aspect of Carol when pretty much no other character is doing so. And...I don’t think that it’s “bad writing” that has brought either of them to this place. It may not be what I would choose (I’d like more small, beautiful moments rather than explosions and other sfx), I still LIKE it.

Long ago I wrote a meta about why I actually think Morgan could quite reasonably be the right person for Carol to work out her feelings with. I have an opinion, and I do my very best to always support my opinion with good reasons and explain myself as well as I can.

I know what other people think on these issues. I read a deluge of posts saying very much the same thing for the entirety of season 6a - and all through the hiatus - and now in 6b. If I were to be persuaded to these ideas, it certainly would have happened by now.
